If you are traveling to Brazil, you should strongly consider the following vaccines:

Also, bring medications for travelers' diarrhea. If you plan on spending significant time in the rain forest or away from the city, you should strongly consider malaria prophylaxis (and, of course, insect repellent and other measures to prevent mosquito bites). Additional immunizations may be necessary depending upon the circumstances of the trip and your medical history--check with the CDC and your physician. You should visit either a travel health clinic or your personal physician 4-8 weeks before departure for a more in-depth consultation. Travel clinics visits and immunizations may or may not be covered by your medical insurance plan. Generally, it's safest to avoid the tap water and ice cream from vendors (in case it has melted and been refrozen)... |
