Brazilian Travel Guides We Love

We've read through a number of travel guides for Rio De Janeiro and Brazil. In general, we're fans of the Rough Guide series, but there are a few others that caught our eye.

Fortunately, they're all available on Amazon:

This is a great guide if you're young and going to Rio for fun in the sun. From Amazon's review "But what makes Rio for Partiers even more desirable is that it can save the tourist lots of money: we have partnered up with hotels, hostels, sports instructors, bar and restaurants to get them to offer a discount or bonus to bearers of our book: just show the book and you are automatically entitled to free drinks, discounts to daily rates and VIP entrance (no waiting in line) at the best bars and clubs."   We've found the Rough Guides to be a consistently good series. The authors have a good understanding of the culture. They go beyond the typical site-seeing advice and explain the historical roots of the culture. Additionally, they offer "sites" that others don't (e.g. if you get up early enough in the morning and head to the market, you can see the monks collecting food donations and blessing citizens).
