If you fly directly into Miami, some hotels will have shuttles that pick you up: check with your hotel directly. If not, you can take either a cab or an airport shuttle.

If you fly into Ft. Lauderdale, though, you do NOT want to take a cab into Miami: it's about a 45 minute cab ride from the Ft. Lauderdale airport to a hotel in downtown Miami or South Beach (and most hotels do not offer personal shuttle service from the Ft. Lauderdale airport. In this case, you should take a Ft. Lauderdale airport shuttle (sometimes called "airport limousines, even if they aren't actually limos). The Ft. Lauderdale airport shuttles generally do not need to be booked in advance. They offer door-to-door services from the Ft. Lauderdale airport to hotels in downtown Miami for $15-$20 per person, including luggage. They make up for the cheaper price in volume: they'll put 8-10 people in a large van if they can.

Check out various shuttle services online to see their pricing and book in advance.

Last time we were there, we used a service called the "Super Shuttle" and it worked great. Note that you should grab the phone number of the service you use, because they can also take you back from your hotel to the airport when you are returning home. If you found this content useful, please !
