Vegas Hotel Reviews Shows and Tickets Books and Guides Getting There

Hey--you don't visit Vegas to stay in your hotel room. These Budget hotels are well located and will help you save money for the more important things in Las Vegas...

Budget

The Luxor is probably the nicest of our "budget" hotels. Shaped like a giant large black glass pyramid, the Luxor shines a very bright light straight up that's rumored to be visible from space. We like watching it from the airplane window. There's not much to report about the rooms. They're fine. They're well located. They're cheap.

The Stratosphere may be the least expensive hotel on The Strip because it's a bit older than some of the newer ones and because it's way down on the end of The Strip. Nevertheless, the Stratosphere offers a great Sports Book and the Big Shot ride (that shoots you straight up at speeds of 1,800 feet per minute over 100 feet in the air) is a thrill (and offers a beautiful view of Vegas).

The Flamingo  Hotel has been around practically since the birth of Las Vegas itself. While the accommodations are basic, the Flamingo owns one of the best locations on The Strip. If you're in Vegas, you won't be spending too much time in the hotel rooms, so this is a great deal.

Handy Travel Hints on getting a great rate:

  • Be aware of the high seasons and the off seasons. It's always less expensive to stay in Las Vegas during the middle of the summer summer or winter.
  • If you don't care what days you are there--the weekday rates are generally cheaper (assuming that there is no convention in town).
  • As with airfares, look for last minute deals
  • Many hotels regularly run promotions--check their websites for the latest ones
  • Package deals are the real secret in Las Vegas--you can often book packages online that will offer significant savings. Shop around online for the best prices!
  • Upgrades are cheaper for hotels to give you than discounts are. If they have nicer rooms available when you check in, they may upgrade you for no additional cost, if you ask--particularly if you are a member of their casino club.
  • Book online! Online competition for Las Vegas hotels is fierce and it's often the route to the best price
