Getting There

Vegas Hotel Reviews Shows and Tickets Books and Guides Getting There
McCarran International Airport (airport code: LAS) was designed to get tourists to The Strip--there's hardly a more convenient airport in the entire US. Don't waste time trying to save money by flying to "nearby airports"--that's not the trick here.

Many many airlines fly to Vegas, so the competition is fierce, which is good for you. Finding discount airfare to Las Vegas is easy, particularly if you follow these rules:

  • Don't fly into Vegas on Friday and out on Sunday. Those are far and away the busiest days and will command a premium.
  • Check out lots of airfares online. Because some travel websites buy in bulk for Las Vegas, prices can vary pretty widely.
  • Try the "off-season." Las Vegas is less popular during the summer and winter months. Particularly if you buy in advance (at least 14 days), you'll find a great deal--we flew from Newark (EWR) to LAS for $208 round trip in July.
  • On a whim, look for last minute deals. Las Vegas has lots of hotel rooms and makes more money when they're filled, so you can sometimes find great deals last minute.
  • Look for package deals that include hotels. For the same reason, hotels will often subsidize airfare costs and offer great air + hotel packages.
  • Avoid dates of major conferences. The Las Vegas Convention Center is one of the biggest in the world and so you have to be careful to avoid the competition of a large conference.
