Things To Do

Cannon Beach • B&B Reviews • Getting There • Activities

Horseback riding: strolling along the beach by horseback is a relaxing way to get a great view of different areas along the beach. The rides are suitable for nearly all age groups (quite slow) and some of us found them, well, a little boring. Try to catch the sunset to make this tour worthwhile.

Bonfires on the beach at Cannon Beach: While camping on Cannon Beach is NOT allowed, bonfires ARE. Grab some firewood, sausages, and marshmallows and build a campfire before sunset. A couple of "insider tips":
  • It can get windy so bring a sweatshirt or jacket for after the sun goes down
  • Wrap up all your food! The seagulls are not shy and will swoop down and grab anything that looks edible
  • Build your fire against a large log along the beach: if you don't shield your fire from the wind, you'll burn through your logs like they are paper. Don't worry about burning the large logs--they are covered in salt water and so they don't burn very well.

Walk along the Promenade in Seaside: aside from the beautiful ocean view, there is an arcade along Broadway for the kids.

Fly a kite and comb the beach: Don't forget your kite! Cannon Beach is a little too far north and windy to be a real sunbathing beach, but it's absolutely beautiful and the strong breezes are perfect for flying kites.

Stroll through the little shops along S. Hemlock Street in Cannon Beach: there are lots of little shops to walk through as well as candy stores to keep the little ones happy.
