Cannon Beach and Seaside,
Oregon

Cannon Beach • B&B Reviews • Getting There • Activities

Cannon Beach is quiet town in northern Oregon that offers beautiful beaches, friendly neighbors, and a local, laid-back atmosphere. Residents from Seattle and Portland alike escape to the tranquility of Cannon Beach year-round, though particularly in the Summer for kite-flying and beach combing. Seaside, fewer than 10 miles north of Cannon Beach along Highway 101, is a larger town with all the required creature comforts (a multi-screen movie theater offering the summer's latest blockbusters, a Safeway shopping palace, and a beach-side arcade and promenade for those afternoon strolls).

If you haven't heard of Cannon Beach, it's because it's a well-kept secret. You may recognize "Haystack Rock" from the final scene in Steven Spielberg's 1984 hit "Goonies" but beyond that natural wonder, Cannon Beach and Seaside lack the buzz of larger vacation destinations. Nevertheless, Cannon Beach and Seaside offer a wonderful, inexpensive family vacation or romantic getaway.
